Colin (1920-2006) attended Kapunda High School 1935-36. He is one of Australia’s most prolific and distinguished writers. Kapunda High is a family-oriented school and has a Century Foundation which supports and encourages students & ex-students:

Incorporating the Taylor’s Run Reservoir, Turncock House and nature Walking Trails, picnic and toilet facilities encourage locals and visitors to stay a while and explore for echidna’s. Take in the history of Kapunda’s early water supply structures from 1879 and timber plantations via the interpretive signs.
Located in a beautiful rural setting on the edge of Kapunda’s Hospital grounds with convenient onsite parking, this centre has a focus on involving the children in all aspects of their local community.
KOSHC Philosophy: We believe that Kapunda Outside of School Hours Care is a valuable and integral part of Kapunda Primary School and the local community. It is a time and place to develop secure, respectful relationships and life skills.
Kapunda Homes was built in 1981, initially designed as a low care hostel type environment. In 2005 there was a major redevelopment with the addition of a 6 bed wing to meet the higher care needs of residents. The home is strongly grounded in the local community, and has strong links with community organisations, churches and businesses, who generously donate time, money or goods towards the benefit of the Kapunda Homes and its residents.
The core values of the school are Respect, Honesty, Cooperation and Effort. These values are aligned to the school purpose, “To provide a safe, diverse learning environment in which to educate and empower children to be successful in the community and their future”. Kapunda Primary has a great family atmosphere, with many parents choosing to participate on the school’s Governing Council, working closely with the administration.
Hosting more than just trott meets, the Harness Racing Club is home to many events including the 24 hour motor bike trial, Kapunda Rodeo, archery competitions, Kapunda & Light Agricultural Society Show and highly popular Swap Meets. The facility has an internal grassed area with grandstand seating, corporate area, large undercover hardstand space and traditional bar, canteen and kitchen. Ample carparking is available.
This challenging nine hole course is set in scenic countryside, providing the golfer with manicured greens and a relaxed country atmosphere. Visiting groups and social clubs are welcome with food catering available upon request. Excellent cabin accommodation and caravan sites are available adjacent to the golf course.
Your community gathering place for the most enjoyable lawn bowls experience imaginable. Situated adjacent the picturesque Dutton Park recreation precinct, gorgeous sunsets bring an inspiring end to a satisfying day of lawn bowls.
For the complete newcomer to lawn bowls, looking for a sporting activity that promises much in fun and enjoyment with a competitive element, then the friendly, welcoming atmosphere of our Bowling Club will be the place to be.
In the hub of the Main Street, lawned picnic and nature play areas complement a plaza space for markets and events, including an undercover stage and street awning. With free public wifi enabled, it is the perfect place to sit, recharge your phone, play a spot of public table tennis or check out the art sculptures as part of the Kapunda Mural Trail.
Relaxing gardens adjacent the entrance to Dutton Park commemorate those from Kapunda and district who died in service or were killed in action in World War One. As the only garden of its kind in Australia, it includes a tribute to Sister Vivian Bullwinkel born in Kapunda in 1915 and to all nurses who served in the theatre of war.
Employing over 50 staff, this new supermarket has an expanded range, competitive pricing and attracts shoppers to Kapunda from surrounding districts. The interior design features historic photos of Kapunda’s rich mining and agricultural heritage.
The Kapunda Community Gallery (KCG) is a not-for-profit organisation run entirely by dedicated volunteers. The gallery strives to bring artists, communities and visitors together to experience and enjoy the arts.
Often referred to as the community hub, the library is open 7 days and provides access to a wide range of materials through the statewide ‘One Card’ network. Children’s programs as well as adult learning are offered on a regular basis.
Historic Kapunda – the crossroads of South Australia’s three iconic, long-distance recreational trails – the Heysen, Mawson and Kidman Trails. The Kapunda Town Square is the only place in the State where the trails cross-over. Outdoor enthusiasts can set off on the best adventures South Australia has to offer, as they walk, horse ride or cycle remote trails and scenic backroads.

Dutton Park is a picturesque community sporting facility positioned along on Montefiore St, Kapunda. Adjacent to the Kapunda Tourist Park. Named after Frederick Hansborough (Francis Henry) Dutton, pastoralist, owner of Anlaby Station. The park was established in 1877 with £500 donated towards the acquisition of land in 1875 by Mr Dutton to establish a recreation ground for the general public with further donations from other business men. The Park hosts a cricket/football oval and training facilities, tennis and netball courts, associated clubrooms with female friendly changerooms and skate park.
Kapunda & Eudunda Medical Practice are accredited practices, that offer a wide range of GP services and a large range of onsite Allied Health.
The picturesque Davidson Reserve is centrally located within the township of Kapunda only minutes from the CBD.

Kapunda Hospital provides acute services ranging from in-hospital care for adults and children by local general practitioners to specialist surgical, obstetrics, outpatients and aged care beds.
Patients may commence their stay at Kapunda Hospital but finish their care at one of the neighbouring hospitals with specialist medical or allied health input when required. All hospitals in the area work collaboratively to support the patient care needs of the region.
The Tanunda to Kapunda leg of the Great Australian Wine Trail (GAWT) enters Kapunda via this disused railway precinct.
Council has endorsed the revitalisation of this precinct through activating silo art, heritage building restoration and interpretive landscaping to allow for community markets, events and private investment such as a microbrewery, gin distillery, artists collective or events space and gallery.

The Pines’ Conservation Reserve is named, because of the Forestry Plantation on this site in the 1880’s. The last harvesting of these pine trees occurred in 1931. Two rows were left standing.
